West Auto Electrics & Mechanical is a Queensland owned and operated family business that has been supplying quality Auto Electrical Services and Mechanical for the past 2 decades. With a fully equipped workshop situated in Blackwater, Central Queensland, we not only provide service to the township, but also to the ever increasing mining industry.
In 2 decades of operation West Auto Electrics have grown from a sole trader to now employing a large number of people.
APPRENTICE AUTO ELECTRICIAN
COMMENCING IN JAN 2024 - CLOSED
West Auto Electrics is a Local Business supplying Blackwater with Quality Auto Electrical Services both locally and to the Surrounding Bowen Basin Area. We understand the trade shortage throughout the industry and that is why each year we continue to put apprentices though our program to ensure quality trades people throughout the industry.

An exciting opportunity exists for a new 1st year Auto Electrician Apprentices to commence a four year apprenticeship with our company. As a Apprentice you will have the ability to commence in 2 Trades ( conditions required ).
​
Under direction from Leading hands and experienced auto electricians, you will have the opportunity to learn a trade in heavy vehicle electrics. To carry out electrical repairs to mining equipment including pre delivery and accessories fitment to meet specified quality, safety and general performance criteria.

Commitment to a 4 year apprenticeship and ongoing study

An appreciation for mechanical aptitude
-
Ability to follow processes and procedures and adapt to a changing environment
-
Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
-
Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
-
Commitment to maintaining occupational health and safety practices
-
Current driver's license
-
Industry experience from a relevant VET course (highly regarded) or a genuine interest in modern automotive technology

Minimum year 10 high school certificate is preferred. Work experience in a mechanical or electrical related workshop will be highly regarded.
​
You must be well presented with excellent organization and communication skills plus have the dedication to the schooling required to complete the apprenticeship are essential. This is your opportunity to join a great team in clean working conditions whilst gaining a trade qualification working for the market leading team.

People applying for these positions must have good work ethics and be willing to work in a Team Environment. West Auto Electrics & Mechanical is a medium sized business only employing Quality Trades People Over Quantity and is a progressive organization in the field service industry.
Role Requirements:

Trade Qualifications in Auto Electrical / Motor Mechanic ( Australian recognized )

Current Driver's License

Able to work unsupervised as part of a team environment

Have a neat and professional approach to work procedures

Perform work activities with a high regard for Industry Safety Standards.

Current Coal Board Medical (or ability to pass)

Provide auto electrical, air conditioning and mechanical services to light vehicles and heavy machineries

A high level of verbal, written and computer literacy skills
